Transformation Towards a Climate Landschape
What is a Climate Landschape?
A climate landscape is capable of actively responding to the challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss. It involves rethinking regional economies and landscapes. Farmers, foresters, entrepreneurs, craftsmen, politicians, artists, and scientists work together on action plans for soil quality, biodiversity, clean water and air, regionally produced food, and vibrant villages and culture.
Elements of a climate landscape:
- Restored rivers and streams, ponds and lakes for water retention
- Diversified cultivation through agroforestry systems, mixed cropping, cover crops, and intercrops
- Connected landscapes through hedgerows and forests
- Integration of animals, such as through mob grazing
- Energy supply through renewable energy sources
- Regional food processing through support for local craftsmanship, such as bakeries, butcheries, dairies, and mills
